Immunofluorescence microscopy revealed that infection with wild type S. aureus caused progressive disruption in ZO-1 staining over time (Fig 2, panels A-C), while infection with the agr/sar-deficient mutant (Fig 2, panels E-G) or two ocular isolates of S. epidermidis (Fig 2, panels D and H) did not. Here, TJP1 is linked to infection.
