With the exception of CBA mice inoculated intracranially [16], inbred laboratory mice are highly resistant to experimental infection with LASV, and only knockout mice with immune-associated deficiencies such as IFN-I receptor knockout (IFNAR-/-), and Signal Transducer and Activation of Transcription (STAT)-1 knockout mice, have been shown to be susceptible to LASV [17,18].
