CRP and infection: Multivariate analysis of all these clinical factors and CRP and WBC cut-off values indicates that an intravenous drug abuse was the strongest predictor for the presence of any deep infection focus with OR 11.9 (95% CI, 1.5–93.2; p = 0.018) and CRP >108 mg/L at day 1 with OR 2.6 (95% CI, 1.3–4.9; p = 0.005) and CRP >22 mg/L at day 14 with OR 3.9 (95% CI, 1.6–9.5; p = 0.003) were the second strongest.
