The univariate survival analysis revealed the following predictors of mortality in patients with solitary large HCC: serum albumin < 4 g/dL, bilirubin ≥ 1 mg/dL, α-fetoprotein (AFP) level ≥ 400 ng/mL, performance status ≥ 1, tumor size > 10 cm, presence of PVTT, and TACE treatment (all p<0.01, Table 5). The gene discussed is ALB; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
