In our recent study, cerebral ischemia increased p-Drp1(Ser616) expression with no evident change over total Drp1 and p-Drp1(Ser637) expression; further, down-regulation of PINK1 increased p-Drp1(Ser616) expression, heightened DNA oxidation, and augmented neuronal damage in the hippocampal CA1 subfield [21].
