Taken together, treatment with Salmonella decreased the phosphorylation of AKT, mTOR and p70S6K in a dose-dependent manner, indicating downregulation of the AKT/mTOR/p70S6K/HIF-1α/VEGF pathway in tumor cells treated with Salmonella. These results indicated that reduction of VEGF expression by Salmonella in tumor cells was associated with inhibition of the AKT/mTOR/p70S6K pathway. The gene discussed is HIF1A; the disease is neoplasm.
