ATG7 and chronic myelogenous leukemia, BCR-ABL1 positive: The findings we present in this study are that following ATG7-mediated autophagy inhibition, CML cells switch from glycolysis to mitochondrial respiration, indicating that autophagy plays a role in maintaining the Warburg effect (i.e., production of energy by a high rate of aerobic glycolysis followed by lactic acid fermentation in the cytosol) in leukemic cells.
