CASP3 and hepatocellular carcinoma: In contrast to the growth-inhibitory effects after prolonged incubation (48 hours, as stated above), 400 nM OZ did not induce a significant alteration in cell viability, proliferation rate or caspase-3/7 activity after shorter incubation times (8–12 hours, data not shown), suggesting that OZ requires sufficient time to build-up proteotoxicity in HCC cells.
