Since vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A) plays a key role in angiogenesis [12, 13] and is expressed in a high proportion of melanomas [9], we conducted a clinical trial with bevacizumab monotherapy, a humanized monoclonal antibody that binds specifically to VEGF-A, in patients with metastatic CMM [14]. This evidence concerns the gene VEGFA and familial congenital mirror movements.
