Others have reported unchanged number of circulating regulatory T CD4+ cells which express the CD25 molecules and/or Foxp3 (Alvarado-Sanchez et al. 2006; Vargas-Rojas et al. 2008; Venigalla et al. 2008; Yates et al. 2008; Zhang et al. 2008), or on the contrary—higher number of these cells in patients with SLE (Azab et al. 2008; Lin et al. 2007; Suarez et al. 2006; Yan et al. 2008) compared to the control group. This evidence concerns the gene FOXP3 and systemic lupus erythematosus.
