Related to the issue of the relationship between infection and cancer, there were some studies regarding the effect of aspirin and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs on the prevention of esophagus, stomach, and colon cancer,31–33 and prevention of the systemic inflammatory response through, for example, interleukin (IL)-6, could be a potential therapeutic target in an attempt to dampen the exaggerated systemic-inflammatory response.34 This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and cancer.
