CRP and Recurrent lower respiratory tract infections: Our findings are consistent with other studies that HAdV-B causes more severe respiratory tract infections than other serotypes and is more likely to result in hospitalization.15,16 We found that children with HAdV-B were more likely than those with HAdV-C to have an acute inflammatory response (leukocytosis, band forms, and elevated CRP), and to be hospitalized for lower respiratory tract infections and gastrointestinal distress.
