The overall finding from the stratified results Brunner et al. (2002); Chandola et al. (2006, 2008) is that psychological stress measures accounted for 37% explained variance of the correlation between MetS and normetanephrine, heart-rate variability, cortisol and interleukin-6, whereas health behaviors explained 18% in neuroendocrine responses. This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and metabolic syndrome.
