Of 241 primary pancreatic cancers evaluated, 125 cases (51.9%) showed strong membrane immunolabeling for ankyrin-1 (Figure 3A) and/or diffuse labeling in the cytoplasm, whereas in the remaining 116 cases (48.1%) staining was either weakly present in the cytoplasm or completely absent (Figure 3A). The gene discussed is ANK1; the disease is pancreatic neoplasm.
