A recent study done in an oxazolone-induced AD murine model has shown that topical pimecrolimus, like topical glucocorticoids, improved the AD-like skin lesions and barrier impairment (important for asthma development in AD patients), by suppressing thymic stromal lymphopoietin- (TSLP-) related allergic inflammation [36]. This evidence concerns the gene TSLP and Alzheimer disease.
