CRP and Stroke: This inflammatory status is due to adysfunction in the interaction between adipocytes and tissue macrophages.4,15,32 CRP is also anacute phase inflammatory protein and its baseline levels are independent riskpredictors of myocardial infarction and stroke, showing correlation with fibrinogenlevels.33,34 Our study did not confirm an association betweenCRP and fibrinogen, which can be explained in part by the non-normal distribution ofthe CRP levels and the low levels detected in the serum.
