In the food allergy models by Vinje et al. [23] and Li et al. [35], IgE antibodies against lupin and peanut allergens, respectively, were detected in the serum of female C3H/HeJ mice, and splenocytes demonstrated a mixed Th1/Th2 cytokine release and proliferative responses after ex vivo stimulation with allergens in the form of extracts or purified proteins. This evidence concerns the gene IGHE and food allergy.
