MET and neoplasm: Although we do not provide functional proofs, we reason that the MET‐positive cell population expanded in the recurrent tumor can largely correspond to stem‐like cells because: (i) In MET‐pos‐NS, the MET‐negative cell subpopulation is devoid of stem properties, as previously shown (De Bacco et al, 2012), and further investigated by in vitro LDA (Fig 3B and Appendix Fig S3A); and (ii) GSC differentiation is characterized by loss of MET expression, as shown in vitro (De Bacco et al, 2012).
