Consistent with a key role for FABP1 localisation in explaining the altered FA metabolism modulated by GADD45β expression, FABP1 is a highly abundant protein in the liver which has a role in cellular uptake of FAs and affects the development of insulin resistance in obesity (Atshaves et al, 2010). Here, FABP1 is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
