In univariable analyses, decreased E-cadherin expression was associated with a higher probability of disease recurrence (log-rank test P < 0.001, HR 1.69, 95 % CI 1.23–2.30) (Fig. 2a) and cancer-specific mortality (log-rank test P = 0.006, HR 1.57, 95 % CI 1.13–2.19) (Fig. 2b). The gene discussed is CDH1; the disease is cancer.
