In contrast to recently reported findings [25] we did not observe a high prevalence of TP53 mutations in our MDS patients with fibrosis despite using FISH in cases with fewer than 20 metaphases available (as stated in GESMD guidelines): in fact, only 3 patients out of the 71 patients of the cohort had a TP53 mutation, of which two were MF-1 and one MF-2. Here, TP53 is linked to myelodysplastic syndrome.
