Sphere cells also upregulated the liver CSCs markers (such as CD24, CD133 and CD44 etc) and the markers (Twist, Slug, Fibronectin and N-cadherin etc) related to EMT that generates disseminating CSCs and contributes to the invasion-metastasis cascade of a tumor [29–31], or may acquire the enhanced chemoresistance reported recently [32], and yet down-regulated the mature hepatocyte markers (such as Albumin and G6P). The gene discussed is PROM1; the disease is neoplasm.
