However, we have found that IKKα has a pro-oncogenic role in skin cancer, as overexpression of IKKα in tumor epidermal cells (PDVC57) or in keratinocytes of transgenic mice increases the malignancy of cutaneous tumors [30, 31]; in addition, augmented levels of IKKα have been observed in some human cutaneous SCCs [31, 32].
