Vila et al. [23] found that interleukin-6 in plasma (21.5 pg/mL; OR 37.7, 95% CI 11.9–118.8) and cerebrospinal fluid (>6.3 pg/mL; OR 13.1, 95% CI 2.2–77.3) were significant factors for early clinical worsening in all ischemic stroke subtypes, independent of initial size and topography.
