LEP and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency: These results are consistent with a net loss of visceral adipose stores and with a 35% reduction in leptin levels previously reported in exercising DIO rats [70]; the findings also agree with the study of Patterson et al. [71] reporting that in inherently leptin-resistant rats that were selectively bred to develop DIO, postweaning exercise caused resistance to obesity on a high-energy diet [71].
