HIV-infected participants with albuminuria were older, had higher rates of hypertension and use of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors and angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARB), had higher blood glucose levels at 120 minutes during oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT), and had higher insulin resistance measured by homeostatic model assessment-insulin resistance (HOMA-IR); but did not differ in rates of type 2 diabetes mellitus or use of Tenofovir or Ritonavir. This evidence concerns the gene ACE and diabetes mellitus.
