These genes encode liver X receptors (LXRs), of which the oxysterol receptor LXRα (Nr1h3) is thought to increase caspase-dependent apoptosis, slow growth of xenograft tumors in CRC mouse models and may negatively interfere with Wnt signaling through direct binding to β-catenin in CRC (Uno et al., 2009; Sasso et al., 2013).
