In this study, we measure the TLR2 and 4 for several reasons: 1) because they are receptors expressed on the cell surface and they are easy to measure 2) because in our laboratory we have more experience in the measurement of receptors expressed on the cell surface and 3) because these receptors are associated in the pathogenesis of asthma, specifically with the hygiene hypothesis and the respiratory infections [16, 17]. The gene discussed is TLR2; the disease is respiratory tract infectious disorder.
