Among the 19 transcription factors identified herein (EGR1, AP2C, FLI1, TAL1, GATA2, HMGA1, ERG, JUN, FOS, GCR, NFYA, TYY1, MEF2A, VDR, P63, JUND, NF2L2, HXA5 and EPAS1), HMGA1 (high mobility group AT-hook 1) chromatin remodeling protein is highly expressed in poorly differentiated, aggressive tumors (reviewed in [41]), and has been identified as a lung cancer prognostic gene [42].
