CALPIN-10 gene located at 2q37 and spans 31 kb and contains 15 exons, constituted by 672 amino acids; it is in the third intron region.15 CALPIN-10 gene was the first diabetes gene identified by cloning and encodes the calpain-10 protein.12 Calpain-10 protein is involved in the secreting pancreatic islands and action of insulin, and is associated with adipocytes. This evidence concerns the gene INS and diabetes mellitus.
