Mf entrapment in the pulmonary microvasculature leads to eosinophilic lung inflammation (Cadman et al., 2014), yet despite the persistence of Mf in CF null mice upon sacrifice at day 28 of infection there was a significant reduction in total leukocytes, eosinophils, and Epx activity in the lung compared to WT (Figures 7D and S6B). The gene discussed is EPX; the disease is infection.
