The regulation of glucose metabolism has been demonstrated to suppress against onset age related diseases (Colman et al., 2009; Smith et al., 2010) such as the T2DM and cardiovascular disease (Hammer et al., 2008; Marchal et al., 2012) and especially is associated with the activity of AMPK and SIRT1 related with the NAD+ biosynthetic activity (Yang et al., 2007) and SIRT6 associated with the regulation of insulin mediated signaling (Xiao et al., 2010). This evidence concerns the gene SIRT1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
