Besides considering that increased expression of miR-409-3p in the glioblastoma cell line T98G strongly represses MGMT transcript and protein (Figure 5), which could favour a positive response to chemotherapy with alkylating agents in these patients, at the present time whether high miR-409-3p expression can be protective in relation to pro-angiogenetic and pro-metastatic processes in glioma is an interesting hypothesis that needs further investigation. This evidence concerns the gene MGMT and central nervous system cancer.
