Since the correlation between IL-12 and IL-10 levels in serum has been reported in the patients with atopic dermatitis [22], and diminished IL-12 levels were previously found in the serum of allergic patients [23], our observation may further suggest that reduced IL-10 and IL-12 production may contribute to the pathogenesis of the airway allergic disorders. This evidence concerns the gene IL10 and atopic eczema.
