BKM-120 (a pan-class-1 P110α/β/γ/δ inhibitor) was chosen because it was used in a study of a PARP/PI3K inhibitor combination in breast/ovarian cancer (ClinicalTrial.gov Identifier: NCT01623349) and because another P110-specific inhibitor (PIK75) has been shown to have single-agent activity in some SCLC cell lines [12]. This evidence concerns the gene PIK3CA and ovarian cancer.
