In the case of Angptl4 overexpression, in the fed state, LPL activity in both WAT and muscles is low, and therefore hypertriglyceridaemia results, whereas in the fasting state, we hypothesize that the hypertriglyceridaemia would be relatively modest because the low Angptl8 and associated high LPL activity in muscles would result in muscle uptake of TG-derived fatty acids (figure 3). This evidence concerns the gene ANGPTL4 and hypertriglyceridemia.
