On the basis of analyses of results from the immunofluorescence-histocytochemical analysis and Cy7-fluorescence images of organs excised from tumor-bearing mice (Figure 5C), we conclude that KabC-platelets surface-coupled with transferrin are present within tumor microenvironments where they are retained by specific interactions between transferrin on the platelet surface and high levels of transferrin receptors on RPMI8826 cells. The gene discussed is TFRC; the disease is neoplasm.
