While prior studies have shown that younger age is associated with poorer breast cancer prognosis (Freedman et al. 2014), further research revealed that the molecular subtypes of the cancer in question (e.g., HER2-positive) drove this effect of age (Anders et al. 2011), with no age correlation being observed in HER2-positive patients (Partridge et al. 2013).
