The immunohistochemistry of selected target genes (IFI16, RGS4, MCTP1, DGKI, OBCAM/OPCML, and GLIPR1) in primary tumors confirmed that they were differentially expressed in clinical specimens. DGKI and GLIPR1 showed significant relationship with the β-catenin subcellular localization in a pattern similar to that observed by the cDNA expression microarray analysis of the cell lines. GLIPR1 (glioma pathogenesis-related protein 1) is a p53 target gene that has p53-dependent and p53-independent proapoptotic activities in tumor cells [44]. This evidence concerns the gene TP53 and neoplasm.
