Given the physical interaction between Rab35 and the PODXL cytoplasmic tail, as well as the unique localization of Rab35 at the cleavage furrow before PODXL vesicle fusion, these results raised the exciting possibility that Rab35 might act as a direct tether that would capture internalized PODXL vesicles, and thus determine AMIS and lumen location at the cyst centre.
