For the treatment of heart failure, both ACE inhibitors (Chen et al., 2006; Chen and Brozovich, 2008) and ARBs (Ararat and Brozovich, 2009) have been demonstrated to preserve both LZ+ MYPT1 expression and the sensitivity to NO-mediated vasodilatation, which could underlie the beneficial effects of inhibition of angiotensin II signaling in the treatment of heart failure compared with other vasodilators (Pfeffer et al., 1992; Yusuf et al., 1992, 2000; Pitt et al., 2000; Granger et al., 2003). This evidence concerns the gene ACE and heart failure.
