In their studies, Salgado et al., Goswami et al., Dethlefsen et al., Tripsianis et al., and Sanguinetti et al. have suggested that IL-6 assumes a role in the upregulation of malignant characteristics in breast cancer cells and that high IL-6 serum levels are associated with poor outcome in breast cancer patients [40, 46–49].
