After 24 h treatment with IC50 concentrations of the subfractions, caspase-3 expression was induced in tumor cells, with 11.31-, 7.21-, 3.94-, and 2.62-fold increase in MCF-7 cells and 5.17-, 8.34-, 2.04-, and 1.24-fold increase in WEHI-164 cells treated with Fa, Fb, Fc, and Fd, respectively (compared to blank controls); by contrast, the expression level of Bcl-2 mRNA declined in both cell lines (Figures 5(a) and 5(b)). The gene discussed is BCL2; the disease is neoplasm.
