In this study, we found that silencing TGM2, the gene encoding TGase 2, in RCC cell lines induced cell death under starvation conditions through p53 stabilization to the same extent as did silencing of HDM2. This result suggests that the general instability of p53 in RCC largely depends on TGase 2-mediated autophagy. This evidence concerns the gene TP53 and renal cell carcinoma.
