The APOE locus and in some cases specifically the ɛ4 allele have been associated with an array of age-related conditions and traits, including Alzheimer's dementia11, age-related cognitive decline12, total and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and triglycerides13, C-reactive protein14, coronary disease risk15 as well as centenarianship16 and survival to 90 years5.
