We also found participants with NAFLD had significantly higher serum levels of alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), γ-glutamyltransferase, albumin, triglyceride, total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, fasting blood sugar, uric acid, white blood cell, and platelet count, while lower serum HDL cholesterol levels than those without NAFLD (all with P < 0.001; Table 1). This evidence concerns the gene ALB and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
