As TRIB1 could be tumorigenic [8,47], our results also suggest that treatment with proteasome inhibitors, which are currently being used as treatment for certain forms of cancer (e.g. Velcade®) [48,49], may benefit from adjunctive therapy with TRIB1 inhibitors or suppressors with the aim of offsetting associated TRIB1 level increases; the recently available structure of TRIB1 will be of considerable help in this matter [3]. The gene discussed is TRIB1; the disease is cancer.
