ANO1 and gastric carcinoma: Amplification and/or overexpression of ANO1 have been frequently observed in gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) [11–15], breast cancer, head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCCs) and gastric carcinomas [6, 8, 16] In ANO1-amplified cancer cell lines bearing 11q13 amplification, knockdown of ANO1 inhibited cell proliferation, induced apoptosis, and reduced tumor growth in established cancer xenografts via deactivating EGFR and CAMK signaling.
