Amplification and/or overexpression of ANO1 have been frequently observed in gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) [11–15], breast cancer, head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCCs) and gastric carcinomas [6, 8, 16] In ANO1-amplified cancer cell lines bearing 11q13 amplification, knockdown of ANO1 inhibited cell proliferation, induced apoptosis, and reduced tumor growth in established cancer xenografts via deactivating EGFR and CAMK signaling. Here, ANO1 is linked to breast cancer.
