As expected, the majority of differentially methylated regions (32/33) showed increased methylation in the tumor with mutant TET1, while most of the differentially hydroxymethylated regions (618/933) were hypohydroxymethylated compared to tumor samples with wild type TET1. The annotation of hydroxymethylated regions revealed that genes involved in the establishment of cell polarity were affected: BRSK2, STK11, FBF1 and SCRIB all displayed a marked reduction in 5hmC (Figure 3B). The gene discussed is TET1; the disease is neoplasm.
