We found that hyperpolarized [1-13C]-lactate produced from hyperpolarized [1-13C]-pyruvate was comparable between mutant IDH1 tumors and normal brain in the BT142 model, in contrast to wild-type IDH1 glioma models, wherein hyperpolarized [1-13C]-lactate is significantly higher than in normal brain (77). The gene discussed is IDH1; the disease is central nervous system cancer.
